Who is this for?
Why Pilocon Exists

The church is not closing the gap.

Most discipleship tools deliver content or track habits. Neither addresses the fundamental problem: disciples who are already receiving — in scripture, in teaching, in community — but cannot integrate what they receive into lasting formation.

The gap between the Sunday self and the Monday reality is not a knowledge problem. It is a formation problem. And it cannot be solved by more programs, more teaching, or more content delivered the same way.

Pilocon exists because one disciple — tired, honest, and unwilling to perform any longer — wrote a letter.

"Discipleship is a compass. It must become our approach to life. It is our strategy — not a destination or goal. It is a lifestyle from which choices are made."

— Ron Robison, Disciples Mindset Notes, entry 42

Why have you abandoned me? I know it isn't intentional, but it is happening. The systems you've put in place have become a barrier. Confusion reigns as you promote programs to keep me busy — it's almost as if you want to avoid the messy work of discipleship.

Stop jamming knowledge down my throat and ask me how I need help. Stop trying to be everything to everyone and help truly make disciples.

Be the hospital for hurting people you were supposed to be. Acknowledge that we are all dealing with issues. Comfort, challenge, correct, encourage, and exhort us.

— Ron Robison, A letter to the church, 2026

The Full Vision

The Pilocon Ecosystem

Pilocon is not a publishing company that also makes an app. It is a complete discipleship ecosystem — a coherent body of works and tools built on one foundational conviction: Leadership is simply a byproduct of Followership.

Meta-principle: Leadership is simply a byproduct of Followership — the organizing thesis beneath every Pilocon book, tool, and bearing.

The Pilocon Resource Pool
Articles · Wobble Factor books · Waypoint workbooks · Skills modules · Questions journal — the complete content library the Disciple's Compass AI synthesizes against your personal journey. The pool grows with every book completed and every article published. The AI does not search the internet. It searches Pilocon — and your own vault.
Emerging · The Questions Book
Leadership is a Byproduct of Followership
A disciple's question journal — built from 297 honest reflections written over a year of following the Holy Spirit through Seth Godin's This is Strategy. Not a book of answers. A book of the right questions that send a disciple into the Compass and the Principle books. Available as standalone print, standalone with digital workbook, or integrated into the Pilocon resource pool. The entry point to the entire Pilocon ecosystem for a disciple who does not yet know where to begin.
Disciple's Compass

Four Bearings.
One Ongoing Journey.

A bearing gives a navigator their fixed orientation — the reference point from which every course correction is made. Disciple's Compass gives every disciple four bearings to hold and return to. The loop from Bearing 4 back to Bearing 1 is deliberate. This is not a program to complete. It is a navigation cycle to live.

"Are you tired of feeling like a failure or condemned as a disciple of Christ? Are the teachings, sermons and guides the church is giving you just not resonating in a practical manner?"

The Compass comes alongside — not to replace the church, but to go where it cannot go: the private daily walk of the individual disciple.
Bearing 1 · Follow by Obeying
Bearing 2 · Log Reflections
Bearing 3 · Check Your Heading
Bearing 4 · Realign & Return
↻ returns to Bearing 1
1
Follow by Obeying
Intake assumed. This bearing is about response.
The gap between knowing and doing is not a knowledge problem — it is a formation problem. Bearing 1 addresses the response: name one concrete obedience action from what was received, then take it.
  • 1.1Engage scripture with intent to obey, not only to understand
  • 1.2Name one concrete obedience action per session
  • 1.3Tag obedience entries #disciple-action in your vault
  • 1.4Return weekly to review prior commitments honestly
  • 1.5Log delay and avoidance — it is data, not condemnation
2
Log Reflections & Insight
The vault is your living record.
The AI is only as useful as the data it has to work with. A sparse vault produces generic insight. A rich, honest, consistently tagged vault produces synthesis that knows your story — because it does.
  • 2.1Log daily by voice or in writing — five minutes is sufficient
  • 2.2Capture scripture reflections in dedicated entries
  • 2.3Record sermon notes within 24 hours while fresh
  • 2.4Mark recurring themes #returning and key moments #significant
  • 2.5Log dry seasons — absence is data too
3
Check Your Heading
The six Principles are your diagnostic lens.
The wobble is not failure — it is the signature of growth. The question is not whether you are wobbling but which direction and how far off-heading. Bearing 3 names the drift. Named drift can be corrected.
  • 3.1Weekly: personal self-check — which Principle feels off-heading?
  • 3.2Monthly: full Compass AI synthesis against 30 days of your vault
  • 3.3Review entries tagged #gap and #wrestling
  • 3.4Name the primary Principle off-heading specifically in writing
  • 3.5Save synthesis output — it becomes your longitudinal record
4
Realign & Return
Correction is not failure — it is the cycle working.
Named drift with no response is self-awareness without formation. Bearing 4 is where insight becomes action — a concrete, time-bounded correction supported by the most relevant Pilocon resource. Then the bearing returns to 1.
  • 4.1Name the correction in writing — vague intentions do not correct
  • 4.2Assign the most relevant Pilocon resource to the identified drift
  • 4.3Set a 2–4 week correction window with a defined end date
  • 4.4Log what changes — correction without observation is incomplete
  • 4.5Re-enter at Bearing 1 — do not linger in correction

The Six Principles

Fixed Points for the
Navigating Disciple

The six Pilocon Principles are the constants that orient a disciple when everything else is shifting. In Bearing 3, they become the diagnostic lens: which Principle is most out of alignment right now? Click any Principle to see its diagnostic question and Compass AI query focus.

The Core Foundation

You control exactly two things in your discipleship — your actions and your attitudes. Everything else flows from taking full responsibility for these. This is not a limitation. It is the most freeing realization a disciple can have.

"Leadership is simply a byproduct of Followership." — Ron Robison

Primary wobble
1
Take Responsibility Before Response
Book: I Am Responsible · Principle 1
"Am I pausing to own my part before reacting — or leading with blame, excuse, or avoidance?"
Compass focus: Surface entries where framing is external. Which logs this month contain no personal ownership statement? Review all #wrestling entries for responsibility language.
Primary wobble
2
Seek Authenticity Over Performance
Book: Removing the Mask · Principle 2
"Am I the same person in my private log as I am in community — or performing a version of my walk I don't actually inhabit?"
Compass focus: Look for gaps between public-facing entries and private daily logs. Where is the language aspirational rather than honest? Where does tone shift?
Primary wobble
3
Value the Process Over Arrival
Book: Armor of God · Principle 3
"Am I present to what this season is forming in me — or treating it as a stage to get through?"
Compass focus: Identify entries expressing impatience with pace, comparison to others, or framing of struggle as delay. What is the ratio of process language to outcome language?
Primary wobble
4
Focus on Preparation Over Prediction
Book: Forecasting is Futile · Principle 4
"Am I doing the daily work of preparation — or spending energy trying to control outcomes I cannot determine?"
Compass focus: Find entries dominated by future anxiety or prediction-focused language. Where is actual preparation — scripture, prayer, practice — thin or absent?
Primary wobble
5
Prioritize Consistency Over Intensity
Book: I Am a Disciple · Principle 5
"Is my walk characterized by sustained daily faithfulness — or do I cycle between high-intensity engagement and dry absence?"
Compass focus: Analyze logging frequency and gaps over the period. Where are the streaks and drop-offs? What precedes each gap? This is the most objectively measurable of the six.
Primary wobble
6
Choose Community Over Independence
Book: Spectators on the Shore · Principle 6
"Am I bringing my actual walk into authentic relationship — or navigating this season alone and calling it self-sufficiency?"
Compass focus: Surface entries where community is absent from reflection. When did I last log something shared with another disciple? The Compass can identify this gap — but cannot fill it.
Conviction
←→
Compromise
The wobble between your deep convictions about faithful living and the complex, real-world circumstances that resist clean obedience. The navigation is not choosing a side — it is faithful discernment in the space between.
Certainty
←→
Doubt
"Lord, I believe — help my unbelief." Both live in the same heart at the same time. Mature faith does not eliminate doubt; it learns to keep moving faithfully in seasons when the map feels uncertain.
Zeal
←→
Wisdom
When the Spirit stirs you, urgency follows. But wisdom asks: Is this sustainable? Is the timing right? Both voices are necessary. Neither should silence the other. Navigating between them is the practice of discernment.
What Maturity Actually Looks Like

Measuring Decreasing Amplitude

The goal of discipleship is not to eliminate the wobble. It is to decrease its amplitude — to catch drift sooner, correct faster, and make smaller adjustments as your sensitivity to the Spirit increases over time.

Disciple's Compass is the first discipleship tool positioned to measure this longitudinally. Not streaks. Not chapters read. But whether your wobble amplitude is actually decreasing across months and years of your real walk.

You recognize drift sooner. Months become weeks become days as your vault builds a mirror of your own patterns.
You recover faster. The gap between recognizing drift and correcting it narrows. Repentance becomes a reflex, not an event.
Your pressure default becomes visible. The AI surfaces what happens in the days before your logging gaps — your specific pattern under stress.
Your wobble signature is named. Over time the Compass identifies your natural lean across the three core tensions and helps you navigate it intentionally.

Your personal wobble signature

Every disciple has a recognizable pattern — a consistent way they respond under pressure, a natural lean across the three tensions, a specific sequence that precedes drift. Most disciples never see this clearly because they have no longitudinal record of their own walk.

Disciple's Compass accumulates that record. Over months, the AI can identify which tension pulls at you most strongly, which Principle goes thin first when life gets hard, and what conditions precede each time you pull away from community.

Knowing your pattern is not resignation. It is your map — the navigational self-knowledge that makes course correction proactive rather than reactive.

"The goal of our life is to continually mature as a disciple of Christ — to consistently reduce our wobble factor." — Ron Robison, Disciples Mindset Notes, entry 278

Recommended Rhythm

The Layered Cadence

The four bearings operate at multiple altitudes simultaneously. This is a recommended starting point — the Pilocon conviction is that individuals own their own journey. Adapt the cadence to your life and log what you changed and why.

Daily

Bearing 1 + Bearing 2 — Follow by Obeying & Log Reflections

Voice log or written entry · Name one obedience action · Tag entries · Five minutes is sufficient — consistency is everything

Weekly

Bearing 3 — Light heading check (no AI needed)

Personal, unaided question: which of the six Principles feels most off-heading right now? One sentence in the log. Your own awareness is the instrument.

Monthly

Bearing 3 full + Bearing 4 — Compass AI synthesis & Realignment

Full AI synthesis against 30 days of vault · Wobble named via Principles · Course correction written · Pilocon resource assigned for correction window

As needed

Unscheduled heading check — significant moments

A significant vault entry, a crisis, or a clear prompting triggers an unscheduled Bearing 3 / Bearing 4. Do not wait for the monthly rhythm when the Spirit is prompting now.

Access Model

Individual & Church Access

Four ways to access the Compass — three for individual disciples and one for churches who want to deploy it alongside their congregation. Tier names signal a journey, not a feature list.

The Foundation

Ron Robison
Founder, Pilocon LLC

Disciple's Compass emerges from decades of Ron Robison's own discipleship journey — not from a whiteboard or a business plan, but from a follower who built the tools he wished had existed when he started the journey.

Pilocon — Piloted Connections — is the conviction that every disciple needs a harbor pilot alongside their journey: someone with intimate knowledge of the waters, committed to making hundreds of micro-adjustments to bring the ship safely home.

Air Force weather forecaster — the origin of the navigation metaphor for discipleship
Lifelong athlete and triathlete — consistency over intensity lived out in training and in faith

Alpha Prototype & Early Access

The Disciple's Compass is in active alpha development. The alpha prototype uses Obsidian as the local vault and Claude Code as the AI agent layer — pointed at Ron's own discipleship record and the Pilocon content library.

The alpha's purpose is not to build software. It is to validate whether the experience feels like the vision before the product is built — to discover requirements by living inside the thing.

01
Does the daily logging habit feel sustainable? If it does not feel natural in the morning rhythm of a real disciple, it will not be used. The alpha tests this first.
02
Does the AI synthesis surface genuine insight? The difference between "you've been reflecting on faithfulness" and a generic Bible verse is everything. This is the make-or-break question.
03
Does Pilocon content land as earned recommendation? When the AI says "your gaps this month map to chapter 3 of The Wobble Factor" and that lands as true — the vision is validated.
